Mend it May - Stitch Meetups
Let’s get together in May and practice some wonderful ways to repair your fave BYO item of clothing!
Description
What is Mend it May? It’s a positive act of revolution against a fashion system that pushes us to dispose, discard and devalue. Mend it May is a campaign focused on promoting sustainable fashion and extending the lifespan of clothing through mending and upcycling. It’s a worldwide stitching phenomenon created by UK Sustainable Fashion Week to inspire people to learn and participate in mending activities. So let’s get together in May and practice some wonderful ways to repair or bring new life to a favourite old item of clothing! Just bring something that needs a hole patched or a rip stitched, button sewn or just made pretty with traditional sashiko stitching or embroidery. Whether you’re a pro-mender or you have never picked up a needle before in your life this informal meetup is for you! I’m planning to meet at a location in Thrower Drive in Currumbin outside enjoying the sun while we stitch and bring public awareness to this fashion revolution while we have a go at practicing...
