Hi I'm Kate, owner, designer and award-winning crafter behind Heartmade Crafts! I have an entrepreneurial spirit with a professional background is in journalism, marketing and graphic design while crafting on the side for over 20 years. As a designer and fibre artist my passion is to innovate fun, modern ways for others to learn forgotten arts such as sewing, embroidery and crochet,

In 2024 I rebranded from 7 years as Kate Bird Creations to Heartmade Crafts to create a platform to inspire and share these important life skills. I have just launched my foundational Learn to sew Workshops for kids and many more upcoming workshops focused on crafts, upcycling, stitching, sewing and collage.​

 

These days I am a Mumtrepreneur living on the Gold Coast with my gorgeous husband, my son and ginger cat Gus, who is, incidentally the subject of my next children's book!  My first children's book  "The Grey Nomad" was launched last year.
