Make It. Wear It. Share It.

There is something special about making something with your own hands.
A crocheted cardigan. A hand-sewn bag. A quilt. A loaf of bread. A jar of relish. A painting. A knitted beanie. Each piece carries a little of the maker with it. The time, the skill, the mistakes, the learning and the joy. That's why I'm launching my new HeartMade Crafts campaign:
Make It. Wear It. Share It.
This campaign is all about encouraging makers to be brave enough to create, wear and share what they've made with the world. And yes, that includes entering your local show. I am entering mine again this year at the Mudgeeraba Show and I'm sharing my journey to hopefully inspire other closet makers to be brave and do the same - just for the fun of it!
Over the years I've been fortunate enough to win multiple awards for my crochet and handmade creations, including several First Place ribbons. But I've also had some spectacular failures, including a certain jar of relish that never even made it to judging!
The wins have been wonderful, but the lessons have been even better.

Local shows are about so much more than ribbons and prize money. They celebrate creativity, preserve traditional skills and connect communities. They encourage us to keep making, keep learning and keep sharing what we know with the next generation.
Most importantly, they remind us that handmade skills still matter.
Over the next few weeks I'll be sharing stories from my own exhibiting journey, including my biggest craft show wins and fail, lessons I've learned from judges, why I believe feedback makes us better makers and the incredible feeling of seeing your work displayed for the public to enjoy.
If you've ever thought about entering your local show, this is your sign.
Be brave.
Wear your creations.
Share your work.
Because you've got to be in it to win it.
